Collectors Transitional
A True Family Home
This transitional design combines modern and traditional elements to create a warm and gracious home for a large family. The generous kitchen and living room epitomize this sense of casual comfort and contemporary living. Reflecting the owners’ love of textiles, a wide range of textures and patterns was incorporated. Graceful connections between existing beloved pieces of furniture and their new environments were forged, for example through updated upholstery and a serene colour scheme.
From antique carpets to Canadian artworks, placing the clients’ collections to best advantage was one of the great pleasures in designing this home. Their profession as geologists inspired the innovative use of stone throughout the home, such as the limestone used on both floors and walls in the entry hall. Adding a subtle rhythm to the spaces, ceiling and wall details also reference the Georgian design of the house exterior. Simplicity and practicality combine with a rich colour scheme to create an active, light-filled home.
