Victims of Sex Trafficking
September 2016, Toronto, Ontario
Douglas Design Studio is proud to be part of the volunteer team working with Covenant House Toronto on The Rogers Home, its new transitional housing program with support services for young, female victims of sex trafficking and exploitation.
The team at Douglas Design Studio have been working for two years to take the project from floorplans to completion. Now the doors to the home are opened to the first residents.
In recognition of our efforts Covenant House has awarded us The Home Makers for our contribution to making the house a home where young women can reclaim their lives.
Seven young women, aged 16 to 24, will live in The Rogers Home for up to two years and have access to wraparound support at Covenant House’s main location and through a network of community partners who provide specialized services.
In addition to stable housing and life skills training, the young residents will have access to community-based trauma counselling and addictions treatment. They will also be able to participate in Covenant House’s educational and vocational services and be able to access the agency’s community apartments and aftercare when they are ready to leave the house.
